The Course
The course structure of practical work in all three years follows the same programme of study. Our aims are to provide the broadest possible training and to educate the student to think and act as professionals.
The aims over the three years are:
1st Year - Introductory
The student is acquainted with different styles of technique and performance. The curriculum consists of Dance Studies, Theatre Studies and Combined Studies.
2nd Year - Development
To follow up and build on the ideas and intentions of the first year, encouraging the student to explore performance skills, allowing the individual’s personality and confidence to develop.
3rd Year - Professional
Performance is the key word for the whole of this year, with aspects of performance being an integral part of every class. The student is expected to work as a professional, guided by the college to audition and gain employment within the industry.
Assessments
Internal and external assessments take place at least twice a year. This is to ensure that the student is performing to their full potential in all areas and achieving the standard required.
Examinations
Examinations take place at the end of each term. This is an important part of the training and is encouraged. Students study the BTDA Vocational Graded Examinations, culminating in the BTDA level 4 Diploma in Theatre Dance.
